Social Security payout to exceed revenue this year | The Daily Caller

Friday, March 26, 2010 12:16:33 AM GMT Thursday, March 25, 2010 12:30:04 PM GMT
The bursting of the real estate bubble and the ensuing recession have hurt jobs, home prices and now Social Security. This year, the system will pay out more in benefits than it receives in payroll taxes, an important threshold it was not expected to cross until at least 2016, according to the Congressional Budget Office. Stephen C. Goss, chief actuary of the Social Security Administration, said that while the Congressional projection would probably be borne out, the change would have no effect on bene... (more)

Mohamedou Slahi is responsible for the murder of thousands of Americans. He was a core member of the 9/11 conspiracy — the recruiter of Mohamed Atta and the other ringleaders. If he'd had his druthers, even more Americans would have been killed: He is almost certainly the al-Qaeda middle manager who activated the Canadian cell that attempted to bomb Los Angeles International Airport. On the scale of war criminals, he edges toward the Khalid Sheikh Mohammed range, as bad as it gets (more)

In return, they want to give you a nice "goobermint" government pension. If you think this could never happen, please remember who the top visitor to the White House was last year. It was SEIU President Andrew Stern. Apparently, the SEIU is very concerned something could happen to your 401k and you would be better off if it were rolled into a new government controlled pension plan. Undoubtedly, the government could issue you some worthless IOU's for your money. The SEIU is also concerned about the 7 of 1... (more)

Starting May 1st (how appropriate, "May Day") the NJ Nanny State will require every vehicle driven by a person under age 21 to display a big bright red sticker. "The Motor Vehicle Commission is unveiling red decals that motorists under the age of 21 must display on their license plates. The reflective red stickers will help police identify drivers in order to enforce restrictions on passenger limits and 11 p.m. curfews." And should you have to ask why they're doing this, it's for the children of course... (more)

Former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown is no conservative. He's a died in the wool liberal through and through. So imagine my surprise upon reading his latest op-ed in Sunday's San Francisco Chronicle (4th item down). If we as a state want to make a New Year's resolution, I suggest taking a good look at the California we have created. From our out-of-sync tax system t... (more)

Your attention please, Swine Flu is now an Official National Emergency President Obama has declared Swine Flu (H1N1) an Official National Emergency. Your chances of finding a CVS or Walgreens with a stock of vaccine remain abysmally low. Maybe next month, hopefully by Christmas, the supplies will finally reach our stores. Meanwhile, wash your hands and try not to get sick. If you do get sick, take comfort in knowing that your President cares about you. That is all. (more)

Guess who gets the shaft?Precisely one year ago, we lucky taxpayers took over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the mortgage finance giants that contributed mightily to the wild and crazy home-loan-boom-turned-bust. . . . So Jon Corzine is calling on all the politicians indicted last week to resign. Corzine's gubernatorial opponent Chris Christie said the same thing earlier in the week. The difference is, these are Corzine's pals, people he has lauded for their "exemplary" public service. Only last month Corzine headlined a politically star-studded swearing-in ceremony for Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano. Corzine lavished praised on his "good friend". Joe Doria, who actually did resign, is one of Corzine's oldest and clo... (more)

Last month I suggested that the GOP filibuster the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court. Yesterday on CBS's "Face that Nation" Sen. McConnell put the filibuster option on the table. "I have consistently opposed filibustering judges — did it during the Clinton years — but I lost that fight," McConnell said. "The Senate will filibuster judges. That precedent was established — ironically enough — on a Hispanic-American nominee in Miguel Estrada." Asked to clarify, McConnell confirmed ... (more)
