Do you remember our state's past? Seriously? Do you remember what this state started? What it protected? How it treated certain people? How hard was it for blacks to gain civil rights? How hard did proponents have to fight for such a noble cause? Let me remind you. South Carolina started the secession in 1860, right before Abraham Lincoln took office. Why? Because the state wanted to protect and expand slavery. For personal gain and benefit. For private enterprise and profits. (more)

My family and I decided to eat out last night. Where to eat was still debatable. I made the call and we left the house to head to the Maryville Diner (located at 1730 South Fraser Street in Maryville). The Maryville Diner was under previous ownership before, and to be honest, too expensive for where it was. But the owners today know how to attract the locals: Great, quality bone-sticking food at too-good-to-be-true prices. Only this time it IS true. I was shocked. (more)

My name is Anton Gunn, and I'm the new South Carolina State Director for Organizing for America. I'd also like to introduce our new South Carolina Field Director, Byron Wellman. I'm excited to announce that we're on the ground in South Carolina -- I'm thrilled to be part of this movement standing with President Obama to make the change we fought for in 2008 a reality in 2009 and beyond.
