Is the Census Bureau Being too Nosey?

published 8 days, 19 hours, 40 minutes ago posted by govinfogovinfo 9 days, 15 hours, 14 minutes ago
Thursday, August 26, 2010 8:03:04 AM GMT Wednesday, August 25, 2010 12:29:28 PM GMT
Seems the Republican National Committee (RNC) thinks the U.S. Census Bureau is being too nosey, calling their ongoing annual American Communities Survey a "dangerous invasion of privacy." Parties risk it all on health care reform - POLITICO.com

As health care legislation staggered erratically through Congress this year, something happened to the biggest domestic policy debate of a generation. It turned small—shrouded in arcane arguments over a “robust public option” versus co-ops, whether government funds could indirectly subsidize abortions, and even the state share of Medicaid payments in Nebraska. Now the debate is about to turn big again. (more)

It has been documented all too well. The New York real estate tycoon and political ponzi hitman Howard Rich is starting to show his face again in South Carolina. Now, however, he's not in New York anymore. Our governor has had his eight years of reign with Rich's money. It's going to be very interesting to see who, or how many, Republican gubernatorial candidates Rich and friends support for 2010. (more)

Congressman Henry Brown is at it again. In an attempt to thwart any momentum being gained on health care reform, Brown has sent out a colorful tri-fold brochure, with a miniature health care survey attached. And, as always, it is sent with your tax dollars fitting the bill, along with paying for the preparation and publishing. Brown is known for spending absurd amounts of your money on mailings. (more)

The resulting coverage dominated cable news chatter for the next week. Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney were also on board... (more)
